David A. Head is a Shareholder of the firm and chair of the Education Loan Collections and Litigation Group, for which he oversees a recovery team of account resolution specialists, supervisors, and managers dedicated solely to collecting education-related debt. The mission of the Education Loan Collections and Litigation Group is to assist lenders, servicers, and guarantors of student loans, and colleges and universities, with a comprehensive national recovery solution for all their education-related debt. Mr. Head has served as the head of the Group, and the contract administrator for the firm’s education clients, since its establishment in 2007.
An active member of the student lending community, Mr. Head has presented on more than a dozen occasions for industry-leading organizations, including the Private Loan Committee of the Student Loan Servicing Alliance (SLSA), the National Council of Higher Education Resources (NCHER), and the Ohio Bursars Association (OBA). He frequently presents on topics including compliance and regulations, bankruptcy law and educational loans, litigation collections, and risk management.
Mr. Head is also the office managing attorney for Weltman’s largest office location, in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, where he is responsible for spearheading the Employee Engagement Committee and other office-specific initiatives. He has been recognized in seven editions of “Ohio Rising Stars” by Ohio Super Lawyers (2010, 2012-17), an honor awarded annually to no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state. He is also AV® Preeminent™ Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available rating for legal ability and professional ethics.
