Weltman Continues Support for March of Dimes with Purple Power

November 03, 2011      |      Sara M. Costanzo, Esq.

Recognized as being among the ‘Top 10’ companies in support of the 2011 Cleveland March of Dimes, Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA is at it again.

November is Prematurity Awareness Month ® , when the March of Dimes focuses the nation’s attention on premature birth. Firm partner Sara Donnersbach, who sits on the NE Ohio Division Board, leads the firm’s annual fundraising efforts and helps spread the word among employees. To gain support of the mission to address the crisis and help families have full-term, healthy babies, Weltman employees wore purple on November 1st and will continue throughout the month to help support this worthwhile cause.

Weltman is a proud supporter of the March of Dimes, not only in the Cleveland office, but throughout the entire firm. According to Sara, “While we focus our efforts on the annual March for Babies each spring, our annual fundraising efforts provide employees the opportunity to support this worthwhile cause by giving their time, talent and funds, as well as having a lot of fun and getting to know each other during the process.”

Every year, more than half a million babies are born too soon in the United States. Our country’s premature birth rate has risen by 36% over the last 25 years. That’s serious cause for concern. Premature birth costs society more than $26 billion a year and takes a high toll on families. Babies born just a few weeks early are at risk of severe health problems and lifelong disabilities. Premature birth is the number 1 killer of newborns. The March of Dimes launched the Prematurity Campaign to fund lifesaving research and speak out for legislation that improves care for moms and babies. Worldwide, 13 million babies are born prematurely each year. In 2008, they expanded the campaign globally.
