The March of Dimes has once again recognized Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA (Weltman) as a Top Ten Walk Team for the NE Ohio Division of the March of Dimes. 2013 marks the 75th year for the March of Dimes, and Weltman is pleased to continue its support of such a well-established charitable organization.

Weltman partner Sara Donnersbach, who sits on the NE Ohio Division Board, proudly explains, “Weltman is very proud to support the March of Dimes, not only in the Cleveland office, but also throughout the entire firm. Our annual fundraising efforts typically focus on the March for Babies each Spring, providing the employees an opportunity to support this worthwhile cause by donating their time, talent and funds, as well as having a lot of fun and getting to know each other during the process. From walks to inner office contests, custom cookbooks and more, MOD has become a core charity we support.”

Every year, more than half a million babies are born too soon in the United States. Our country’s premature birth rate has risen by 36% over the last 25 years. That’s serious cause for concern. Premature birth costs society more than $26 billion a year and takes a high toll on families. Babies born just a few weeks early are at a risk of severe health problems and lifelong disabilities. Premature birth is the number 1 killer of newborns. The March of Dimes launched the Prematurity Campaign to fund lifesaving research and speak out for legislation that improves care for moms and babies. Worldwide, 13 million babies are born prematurely each year. In 2008, they expanded the campaign globally.
