Reputation and Results You Can Count On

The attorneys who manage the Governmental Collections Group have over 50 years of combined experience in representing the rights of various governmental agencies and entities. Our staff has developed relationships with court personnel who appreciate the fact that they are dealing with an experienced law firm with a proven track record of handling matters in a timely and professional manner.

Large for Resources Yet Small for Intimacy

The Governmental Collections Group is dedicated solely to the representation of all sizes and types of governmental bodies. Working with Weltman provides you with the resources of a large national law firm and yet the intimacy of a local partner. We believe in personal attention and are always accessible via phone, email or in-person to respond to your questions and provide status updates. We will travel for court appearances, meetings, educational seminars or any other programs for our clients.

Internal Handling

Weltman has the ability to accept files in paper format or electronically. Every account is reviewed for bankruptcy filings or deaths, in an attempt to obtain sufficient information so we can direct our collection efforts in a positive manner while protecting you from exposure. An initial attempt to contact the debtor(s) is made soon after the set-up date through letters and phone calls. We may then pursue various alternatives in recovery including negotiations for payment in full, payment terms or a compromised settlement agreement; dispute resolution; litigation or attachment of non-exempt assets such as debtor examinations, wage garnishments, bank attachments and lien filings.

Reporting and Communications

Weltman utilizes the Internet for e-mail and document transmission. Through our password-protected eClientNet, we provide you access to your account work product, progress reports detailing collection activity, performance statistics, inventory lists and accounting information.
